Astonishingly, this is the first part (of five) from a complete posting on YouTube of a film that I made for the BBC with Benjamin Woolley back in 1993. The documentary, Signs of Life, produced by Illuminations for the Horizon series, looks at the idea of "artificial life", a notion dismissed by many as close to cranky then but gradually gaining respectability (or at least recognition). If I may say so, the list of contributors is pretty impressive -- Danny Hillis, Roger Penrose, Chris Langton, Richard Dawkins and others -- and despite my initial misgivings at stumbling across it again (and recognising that it was made 15 years ago) it stands up reasonably well.
How do I feel about it being there in its entirety on YouTube?
